ASTRA UD Trucks. Where The Journey Began
Year 1984 saw the historical moment for ASTRA UD Trucks as it was appointed as authorized distributor of Nissan Diesel in Indonesia with the name Astra Nissan Diesel. As time went by, Nissan Diesel came to dominate Japan-brand commercial heavy-duty vehicle in Indonesia. With its sales ups and downs, as in August 2006, the commercial vehicle grew by 29 percent.
This condition was a momentum to provide a variety of the best service packages for Nissan Diesel customers back then. One of the packages, HERAN Service Package, in October and November 2006 in all Astra Nissan Diesel branches, offered repair or maintenance service at an attractive price for engine tune-up package, brake package, and clutch package. The after-sales service also extended to training for customers’ driver and mechanic in one mining area in West Kalimantan.
To meet customers’ demand for reliable and fuel-efficient truck, early in 2007, the powerful and fuel-efficient Nissan Diesel Euro 2 was launched. All mechanics in all branches of Nissan Diesel in Indonesia were required to master this new technology. Astra Nissan Diesel would hold a Road Show Training, from March to May 2007, separately and simultaneously, all over Indonesia, with Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Palembang, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Pekanbaru as focus areas. The Training included A 865 Product Knowledge and Euro-2 Technical Knowledge.
The Road Show Training also gave training on truck body building, the handling of the ECS during attachment of a truck body. More than body builders from all over Indonesia had also attended training on Nissan Diesel Euro 2.
Improvement of product quality and service goes hand in hand, and that is how important the Nissan Diesel Training Center is. In 2007 and 2008, Nissan Diesel equipped its training facilities with hand-on and simulation facilities to improve service and customer satisfaction. To ever increase customer satisfaction, in April 2010, Astra Nissan Diesel, together with dealers, held the Service Clinic, aimed at customers located in the area in which the dealer operated.
The Service Clinic, a concept of visiting customer’s location directly, was intended to show customers that Nissan Diesel was concerned with their trucks, that those trucks had regular maintenance. In the Service Clinic, Nissan Diesel gave free inspection and this attracted many customers who came with their trucks. Another activity was giving a 25% discount for fast-moving spare parts like solar filter and oil filter.
After the principal in Japan changed the brand UD Nissan Diesel into UD Trucks in 2010, Astra Nissan Diesel changed its name into Astra UD Trucks as authorized distributor of UD Trucks in Indonesia in 2011. To keep up with superior UD Trucks products and to maintain trust and satisfaction, varied after-sales service programs were tailored to customers’ needs.
One after-sales program was Fleet Operation Support with the concept of Fast and Reliable, a solution for customer’s business fleet. Another was Mobile Workshop, reaching out customers at a scheduled time, Mobile Service, with modern equipment, was another program to quicken truck repairs at customer’s location to avoid downtime.
To continue building competency culture in the workplace, ASTRA UD Trucks is always fully aware that skilled human resource is mandatory. Proving that it is supported by trained mechanics, ASTRA UD Trucks mechanics has won the best mechanic in Gemba Challenge, the world’s competition for UD Trucks mechanics.
All of these have shown ASTRA UD Trucks’s commitment to staying always in front in total transportation solution through continuous innovation, to doing its best for customers in achieving achieving success, and to serving the country.
